Hawabai Abdulla: "At TADB, we align with ecological and organic agriculture strategies mainly by improving access to finance"

AFRICALEADNEWS – (Sénégal) My name is Hawabai Abdulla from Tanzania. I work with the Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank, where I oversee strategic planning and climate change initiatives.
At TADB, we align with ecological and organic agriculture strategies mainly by improving access to finance. Supporting agricultural entrepreneurship requires not only scaling up financing but also learning from initiatives across the region. That is why we are here—to learn, share, and build partnerships that strengthen the ecosystem around agroecological entrepreneurship.
Supporting these initiatives goes beyond providing loans. Credit is fundamental, but for greater impact, it must be combined with technical assistance, awareness creation, and capacity building. This ensures that farmers, enterprises, consumers, and markets understand the health, economic, and environmental benefits.
Such initiatives improve livelihoods, drive economic growth, and support sustainability and biodiversity. To unlock their potential, we need a collective effort involving civil society, financial institutions, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
For governments to implement these strategies effectively, there must be a strong overarching framework that enforces and supports agroecological and organic agriculture across nations.
